Emerald Hill Audiology

The origin to the name Emerald Hill Audiology comes from the idea of taking care of one's community and stems from the preservation work of Beatrix Potter and the influence she had on England's Lake District.

Cheri Taylor, AuD

Cheri Taylor earned her doctor of audiology degree from Montclair State University and completed her audiology externship program at Columbia University Medical Center. Her initial interest in audiology stemmed from her background as an orchestra violinist and her interest in preventing noise-induced hearing loss for classical musicians.

While completing her graduate school education, she was the leader of a neurophysiologic (event-related potentials) lab that investigated correlates of speech perception in difficult listening situations across the lifespan. She was also involved in studies on sound attenuation and music perception abilities for individuals who wear hearing aids.

She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado’s animal audiology graduate program where work is being done with the canine and equine populations. Dr. Taylor is also interested in the work relating to boat noise levels and how it affects marine mammals.

Before founding Emerald Hill Audiology, Dr. Taylor, Doctor of Audiology served as the director of audiology at an otolaryngology practice. She specializes in helping individuals with vestibular (balance) disorders and those who use hearing aids. She is also an expert in managing tinnitus and implantable devices, including bone conduction devices and cochlear implants. She has extensive experience at performing auditory brainstem response evaluations and previously served as the consulting audiologist for newborn hearing screening programs.

Dr. Taylor, Doctor of Audiology holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is also a member of the American Doctors of Audiology. She has received the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from ASHA, a formal recognition of professionals who exceed the required continuing education units, demonstrating her commitment to advancing her expertise in audiology.
